Hi, I grew up in Washington, Ohio and Hawaii, where I graduated in 1993.
While there I had the privilege of meeting some great tattooers, including Mike Malone, Lance McLain, Scott Sterling, Doug Hardy and others. I also was lucky enough to work as a shop girl for the likes of Kandi Everett and Igor Mortis; interacting with customers, tracing designs, sometimes even drawing up designs for them. Kandi had me draw my first sheet of flash; some and Old English for the military boys that frequented her shop.
I moved to Minneapolis in 1998 and started body piercing at the Inklab in 1999. I got to work around David Dettloff, Daniel T. Lowell, Doug Hardy, Niel Marks, and "Loko" Charlie Mendes. Though I love body piercing, I was starting to feel unchallenged, so in late 2005, I asked to be apprenticed for tattooing. I was apprenticed by Niel Marks, Doug Hardy and David Dettloff until receiving my license in late April 2007.
Though my actual apprenticeship may be complete, I'm still learning and will always keep learning, and luckily, I get to work with really great artists/tattooers all the time. Not only are they great artists, but they're good, sharing, generous people and I feel lucky to be working in an environment that feels like a family.
